Discription of Thrust Ball Bearings:
Thrust ball bearings are produced as single direction or double direction thrust ball bearings. They are designed to accommodate axial loads only and must not be subjected to any radial load.
Thrust ball bearings are separable, the shaft washer, housing washer(s), ball and cage assembly(s) can be mounted separately. Shaft washers have a ground bore to enable an interference fit. The bore of the housing washer is turned and always larger than the shaft washer bore.
Features of Thrust Ball Bearing Axial Bearing
1. Single direction thrust ball bearings: consist of 2 washers with raceways and balls guided b a cage. Washers have flat seating surfaces, and that is why they must be supported so that all balls can be evenly loaded. Bearings carry the axial load only in 1 direction. They are not CZPT to carry radial forces.
2. Double direction thrust ball bearings: have 2 cages with balls between the central shaft washer and 2 houding washers with flat seating surfaces. The shaft washer has raceways on both sides and is fixed on the journal. Bearings are CZPT to carry only axial forces in both directions.
